Responsibilities:

We are changing our website to become modern, beautiful, informative and user-friendly. This is where you step in - together with our brand and design team, you will build an impeccable experience for our users so that learning about ACT and sustainable living is as easy and pleasurable as possible. The role will require an obsessive focus on beautiful customer experiences, ownership and technical leadership developing ACT website.

You will have the opportunity to make a big impact on our web development and work on the full development cycle including design, development, testing, and deployment.

Skills:

  • Creating cross-continental systems with 24/7 availability. You probably dream about monitoring, self-healing, scalability and software quality when you sleep and drool in a messy way when you hear someone say “I think we might have a problem here”

  • Strong understanding of and experience with the core principles of software craftsmanship e.g. importance of sound architecture, high-quality code and the ability to optimize it at run-time

  • 5+ years of experience with building loosely coupled systems using web technology (strong Node.js background is a plus) with a massive amount of users (counted in the millions of concurrent users)

  • TDD, experience from implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests

  • Can take the lead as both Architect and Developer

  • Expertise in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from concept and design to testing

  • Hands-on experience from Agile/Scrum development process and code reviews

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

  • Experience using version control repositories (preferably Git)

  • Extensive experience with transactional queues

  • Experience with management of hosting environment, including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes

  • Experience from data migration, transformation, and scripting

  • Experience from setup and administration of backups

  • Understanding of differences between multiple delivery platforms such as mobile vs desktop, and optimizing output to match the specific platform

Additional advantages:

  • some knowledge of ElasticSearch

  • some knowledge of NoSQL databases

  • expert knowledge in one of the following backend languages: .net c#, java, php"

  • experience with Evans DDD, TDD, BDD, OOP, Agile – Scrum framework

  • proficient understanding of security principles
